Windows 10 - 1803 to 1903 Update ...What a Mess and Lesson Learnt

I had been using 1803 version windows 10 for some time.. Microsoft as usual forced their updates on me.  1903 was first released in April-2019.. so I thought it has been there for some time and I should not face much issue.

Once windows 1903 was installed.. realized Microsoft Edge stopped showing pages (kite.zerodha.com and fyers page).. After going through solutions that people had given.. nothing worked. That is when I decided to roll back to 1803. After roll back,  I would have got10 days.

During this phase I learnt to use the sfc and dism commands mentioned here.(https://www.ghacks.net/2018/03/16/use-dism-to-fix-issues-sfc-cant/).

Another machine, My laptop had 1809 and is working fine. This prompted me to think using 1809 instead of directly jumping directly to 1903.

After roll back, I installed 1809 and faced the same issue.. It is so frustrating. I was just thinking why not Microsoft just provide the freezing the release option (I do not require any more releases for next 10 years as I run only amibroker)

Now, came the second round of solution hunting.. found this (https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/Windows-10/Windows-10-1809-Edge-not-loading-pages/m-p/266050).  They are many solutions that people are using. Unfortunately, none worked for me.

By the grace of the god Google,  found this https://windows101tricks.com/microsoft-edge-not-working-windows-10/

The last solution

Check with a different user account

worked for me !

I had never bothered to create a standard user a/c after the windows 10 installation as I never required. Having a separate std. user a/c is a better way .

Lesson learnt:
  1.  Once the windows 10 installation is complete, create a separate administrator a/c and a std. user a/c !
  2.  If windows 10 update shows up a issue then add a new user and test.

PS: Getting 1809 ISO file is a tricky thing. Once a 1903 is available Microsoft landing page just does not provide the option to download 1809 ISO file.  Used the trick in the below link for getting the ISO file.
